A Brief History...
In episode one of the first season of Sons of Butcher, the script called for a "really offensive song" to be played by Ricky. A goofy little 8 second song called "Rock Enema" was born. CLICK HERE TO VIEW
The song quickly became a favourite and was extended to a full 54 second version that was performed live under the absurd moniker "Cheryl's Choice".
In 2005 it was renamed the more suitable title "Fuck the Shit" and included on the first Sons of Butcher album.
After the launch of their first TV season, Sons of Butcher played a promotional show in Hamilton, Ontario. The band had hoped to record footage to cut a performance video for one of their songs. During the setup, the band and crew fooled around shooting a goofy set of insert shots for the song "Fuck the Shit". The shots were originally intended to be cut within the full band performance footage, but once editing began they realized the inserts cut back to back were much funnier...
The video sat on the band website with little fan fare for a while, until in a twist of fate someone posted it on Break.com... the video spread across the internet faster than free porn, inspiring people from across the world to create their own versions of fuck the shit. (see below)
Shortly after, the Canadian music video station MUCH Music, began playing the video on PUNCH MUCH their 24/7 All Request music channel. Due to the extremely short length and lyrical content of the video, it was often played mulitple times an hour. With viewers requesting it over and over again.
In 2007 Canadian Icon, Ed the Sock, invited the band to play live on his talk show Ed & Red's Night Party. Their performance of Fuck the Shit was featured on Ed's Best of 2007 music episode.
Eventually the song found its way to Red Peters of the Howard Stern Sirius Satellite Radio Channel. Red featured the song on one of his shows, eventually winning the Red Peters 2007 song of the year contest.
FUCK THE SHIT remains the most requested song in the entire Sons of Butcher catalogue.
